Applications Technologist / Engineer

The primary role of the Applications Technologist / Engineer is to work together with the sales department and other members of the design engineering group in dealing with customer compression package tenders, bids and quote submissions. The position reports to the Manufacturing Manager.

Job Functions / Tasks (not limited to):

• Provide support to the sales department to deal with customer specification reviews, scope definition, cost estimation, preparation of detailed accurate technical and commercial proposals for submission to customers.
• Interface with other members of the design and engineering team during the quoting process.
• Selection and sizing of screw and recip compressors as well as other major components required in the design of a compressor package.
• Good understanding of industry codes and standards in the markets in which we are active.
• As required, maintain customer contact and relationships.
• Ensure all customer documentation has been completed and accurately signed off.
• Problem solve technical issues with knowledge of governing codes.
• Accountable for delivery of project required documentation to internal and external customers.
• Trouble shooting problems in area of fabrication, during fabrication process.
• Provide input with the production department in setting priorities for workflow with the fabrication employees.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry including direct experience with gas compression equipment.
• Diploma from a recognized industry institution.
• Thorough understanding of ABSA B31.3, ASME Section VII, Electrical codes, Instrumentation codes and applications.
• Experience with rotating equipment and the fabrication of process equipment.
• Experience with Design and drafting software including AutoCad and Solid Works.
• Must be Customer focused with some direct experience dealing with customers with a track record of having satisfied customers.
• Must be well organized and exhibit sound attention to detail.
